Green juice, green smoothies, and now, green milk. Green has never been easier. The only thing that could make this drink better, is if it’s sipped from a mason jar with a reusable straw.
We started out by learning how to make almond milk from scratch, and couldn’t resist jazzing it up with some sweetness and nutritional magic thanks to spirulina.
To make homemade almond milk, all you need is a cup of almonds, and 3-4 cups of water (depending how creamy you want it). Blend it up, strain it and drink away. It’s easier to make then driving to the grocery store battling traffic and long cashier line ups to buy some in a box.
To make Spirulina Almond Milk, we added vanilla for flavour, dates for sweetness, and spirulina for a boost of nutrition, and a hint of green.
The result is a delicious and nutritious plant-based milk sweet enough to drink alone and mild enough to mix into cereals or smoothies. It’s so good that you might even want to dip your healthy cookies in it.
We used Organika® Organic Spirulina powder to create that dreamy green colour. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that’s also a great source of protein and iron. It even provides you with antioxidants. And you only need a little spirulina to get a whole lot of awesome.
Spirulina Almond Milk
- Add all of your ingredients to a high speed blender, and blend until combined and creamy in appearance.
- Strain the milk through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth or fine sieve to remove the almond pulp.
- Store the milk in your fridge and consume within 3-4 days
