Boost Your Valentine’s Day with Maca

Enjoy quality time with a loved one while getting some quality nutrients!

Valentine’s Day is coming up! And while dinners can be expensive and stressful, try keeping it simple by spending time with your loved one in the kitchen! Spend time, and not money, with your loved one.

A great way to spice things up this year is by adding Maca to the decadent dessert you and your loved one(s) will inevitably be indulging in. Aside from being chalk full of vitamins, Maca is versatile and can be used in a number of recipes.

 

How Maca Boosts Your Valentines Day

  • Boosts sexual drive and libido (it’s a holiday—celebrate!)
  • Improves free testosterone levels, responsible for higher energy levels, circulation to sexual organs and more.
  • Improves fertility.
  • Helps improve the balance of overall hormone levels.

Maca acts as a great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to support sexual health and metabolism, as well as promoting neurotransmitters such as GABA and Dopamine associated with joy and mood balance.


Recipe Ideas:

Almond_Cookie

RAW Almond Cacao Cookies with Salted Maca Caramel

Almond cacao cookies:

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup dates
  • 2 heaping tablespoons cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp quinoa powder

Salted Maca Caramel:

  • 1 cup dates
  • 2 tablespoons maca powder
  • Pink Himalayan Salt, to taste
  • 3/4 cup water, more or less as needed

Topping (optional):

  • Pecan halves, walnut halves, and/or almonds

To make the cookies: pulse the almonds into flour in a food processor, then add the rest of the ingredients and pulse until it all sticks together. Press into the bottom of a lined baking pan and put in the fridge.

To make the caramel: blend all the ingredients until smooth and thick like whipped cream. Put this in the fridge for about 2 hours.

Use a cookie cutter to make your cookies, then scoop a spoonful of caramel on top of each one. Press a walnut, almond or pecan onto the dollop of caramel. Refrigerate overnight or at least for a few hours… then enjoy with fresh almond milk!


Chocolate Maca Mousse

Choco-Maca Mousse

Indulge in this choco-maca mousse, packed with antioxidants, adaptogenic herbs and all natural sweeteners. Total prep time is about 10 minutes with a good food processor. You can also sub out honey for maple syrup or date syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Ripe Avocados
  • 6-7 tbsp Cacao
  • 1 tbsp Maca
  • 5 Dates
  • 1/4 cup Raw Honey
  • 2 turns of Pink Himalayan Salt

Instructions: Pit your dates and add all ingredients to a food processor. Process until smooth with a whipped texture. Can be stored in the fridge for up to two days. To make your own date syrup, simply pit dates and blend with a small amount of water until you have a date paste. Use this as your sweetener in place of honey or maple syrup.

Note: Depending on how ripe the avocados are, you may need to counteract the taste with the sweetness and add a bit more sweetener or pink Himalayan salt. All of our recipes are intuitive, so remember to have fun and be creative, if you want to modify the recipe, go for it! We sprinkled some cacao nibs and strawberries on top as a garnish.
