Primary Purpose of Position:

As General Manager (GM) of Operations at Organika Health Products Inc., you will utilize a combination of leadership and technical experience to guide the procurement, warehousing, production and quality teams. Your focus will be on building a work environment that provides management with the tools to grow in their respective fields, support a lean operation, and exceed overarching operational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively demonstrate mission, vision, values to all levels of the organization
  • Implement strategic plans in order to meet business objectives and advance the company towards its mission and vision.
  • Ensure growth and profitability of all business units under your leadership
  • Keep accountability of the management team and ensures key performance indicators are met
  • Provide operational oversight and direction required to establish a lean working environment and culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with finance & accounting for monthly budget review to ensure operations are profitable and operating within budget.
  • Address immediate and long-term operational needs in monthly reporting to the executive team
  • Ensure each department manager is accountable by clearly defining, tracking, and reviewing monthly goals and potential outcomes
  • Ensure all key products, product launches and special projects are delivered on time
  • Collaborate with Quality team to ensure all Canadian and international regulatory requirements are met
  • Foster strong relationships with all key vendors and partners
  • Hire, evaluate and build out operations team to meet company growth objectives
  • Engage in and lead cultural initiatives set forth by the company
  • Ensure health, safety, and security for all buildings and assume the role as main contact for issues with security companies.
  • Other assigned duties as required.

As a General Manager (GM) of Operations, you excel in these areas:

  • Developing a clear vision, and building out a strong case study to support recommended strategy for operations
  • Leading and motivating a growing team of diverse individuals through coaching, mentoring and influence
  • Guiding team members and empowering them to see, reach and extend their potential
  • Working with leaders from other departments (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Quality) to align on organizational goals
  • Instilling confidence in operations teams to facilitate results and productivity
  • Providing visibility and metrics to support operational activities
  • Recognizing opportunities and leading change & process improvement initiatives
  • Championing organizational and operational excellence
  • Having the ability to inspire trust, provide direction, execute with excellence and produce extraordinary results.

Required Skills and Training

  • Completion of a college or university program in business administration or operations management.
  • At least 5 to 10 years of managerial experience in food manufacturing environment.
  • Certified in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will be an asset.
  • Acquired APICS – Principles in Operations Management
  • Excellent working knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control (HACCP) for Production.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Have lead or been a key leader in an ERP implementation.
  • Strong conflict resolution and people management skills.
  • Strong thought leadership with ability to independently take calculated risks.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, the and able to influence a team.
  • Effective negotiation, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Collaborative and an excellent team player.
  • Must be able to operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or natural health products industry is an asset.
