Traditionally used as an acute remedy for indigestion, flatulence or venous congestion
You are exposed to many common toxins on a daily basis. Found in your food, water, air, drugs, personal care products and cleaning supplies, these pollutants are linked to free radical damage, decreased stress response, and increased liver load. As these toxins build up in the body, they can contribute to cardiovascular disease, tissue damage, and increased signs of aging. An effective detoxification process is essential to combat this build-up, prevent disease and maintain one’s overall health.
Traditionally, activated charcoal has been used in medicine since the early 1500’s as a safe and effective way to capture and dispose of toxins from the body naturally. With the help of a process called “adsorption,” healthcare professionals have been using charcoal to treat a variety of ailments, from poisoning, treating wounds and detoxification of the digestive tract. Charcoal isn’t absorbed through the digestive tract, so toxins leave the body with your stool.
Organika’s Activated Charcoal is uniquely treated with oxygen in a process called “activation”. This expands the charcoal’s pore size, greatly increasing the surface area of the carbon particles. It then has millions of tiny pores where elements, toxins and surface stains get trapped inside the charcoal. This adsorption binding process allows these toxins to be excreted along with the charcoal, helping you regain your clean and healthy status!

Q: Is Organika’s Activated Charcoal safe for brushing your teeth? A: Our charcoal is a non-abrasive power with a diameter of less than 0.074mm per particle. On the Mohs Hardness Scale, your tooth enamel measures a 5. Our powder is the finest grade and only measures a 1-2, therefore as it is softer it will not damage your teeth. It does not adsorb the calcium salts of which your tooth enamel is made.
Q: I’ve seen charcoal added to juices and smoothies. How does this help me? A: Yes, Organika sells Activated Charcoal to many juice and smoothie bars across Canada. When taken internally, it helps to bind to toxins in your digestive system.
Q: I’ve heard you can take activated charcoal for food poisoning. Does this work? A: Whenever we get into a scenario where the body wants to purge, activated charcoal can be amazing. Food poisoning, acute diarrhea, alcohol poisoning or the stomach flu are all times when activated charcoal can be beneficial at binding up the toxins the body is trying to get rid of. It’s a great travel staple! Though do remember to get yourself to a medical professional as well.
Q: Is hardwood charcoal better than bamboo or coconut charcoal? A: Depending on what you are using charcoal for, they all have slightly different pore sizes for adsorbing toxins. Hardwood charcoal like our Activated Charcoal is great for adsorbing larger molecules, so works great for discolourations and stainings. Best for brightening skin and whitening teeth. But it’s totally different from your BBQ charcoal briquettes - save those for cooking!
Q: Is your Activated Charcoal tested on animals? A: This product is cruelty-free. At Organika, we do not test any of our products on animals.
Q: When is the best time to take Activated Charcaol? A: For best results, you should take it at least 1 hour before and 2 hours after meals, medications, or supplements.
