Features Ingredients FAQs

Also known as “bee glue,” propolis is produced when bees mix plant and tree resins with some of their glandular excretions. The resulting material, which is spread around the hive walls, is a surprisingly effective shield against bacteria and viruses, further preserving the health of the colony.

Throughout history, humans have taken a lesson from bees and used propolis for their protection and healing – both inside and out. Hippocrates, the Greek physician and “father of medicine” prescribed propolis to aid in the healing of sores and skin ulcers. Research has also looked at how propolis can fight infection and boost immune response when taken internally. Widely recognised in Europe, North/South America and Asia, bee propolis has proven effective at relieving conditions such as sore throat and canker sores.

Pure and natural, Organika®’s Himalayan Bee Propolis is a great solution to the irritation that infections bring, from mouth and other oral infections that typically cause cold sores, sore throats and more.

Sometimes referred to as “Russian Penicillin,” bee propolis in capsule form also provides excellent internal protection against many types of infection. Unlike prescription antibiotics, propolis does not kill off our “friendly” intestinal bacteria, which help to lessen further health issues. Studies indicate propolis also has a favourable effect on human immune response. With potent antioxidants, Bee Propolis also helps reduce the damage that infections, bacteria and free radicals do to skin, tissues and organs.

Scientific analysis of propolis reveals that it contains trace minerals, vitamins, and amino acids that are especially rich in bioflavonoids. Other active ingredients include terpenes, caffeic acids and phenols, which are potent antioxidant compounds. Researchers believe that some compounds in propolis interrupt the energy of bacterial cells, rendering them unable to move and multiply.
