Iron is essential in human health, helping carry oxygen to all parts of the body. It plays an important role in immune function, cardiovascular health, and cognitive development.

Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in Canada, and is much more prevalent among women. In addition to increasing the risk of anemia, iron deficiency can cause unpleasant symptoms such as dizziness, lack of energy, headaches, paleness, shortness of breath, and trouble concentrating.

Some groups of people are at a higher risk of being iron deficient than most. This includes:

RECOMMENDED DOSE — (ORAL) ADULTS ONLY: 

Take 1 capsule once per day. Take with food, a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products.

Q: When should I take Absolute Iron?
A: Absolute Iron has little interaction with food or acidic environments due to its unique chemistry. This makes it suitable for use at any time, even with meals! For tips on how to increase absorption, see below.

Q: Is Absolute Iron considered a “heme” or “non-heme” iron?
A: Our iron is non-heme, but was developed to have the structure of heme iron to increase absorption.

Q: How can I increase the absorption of iron?
A: To increase the absorption and bioavailability of Absolute Iron, take it with orange juice or acidic foods. Avoid grains and beans (they contain phytic acids), cereals and legumes (which contain phenolic compounds), and calcium-rich foods.

Q: What is a bisglycinate?
A: A bisglycinate is a bonding of two amino acids which can resist enzymatic processes in the digestive tract. This kind of molecule is much better absorbed in the intestine than other kinds of iron, such as inorganic metal salts. That is why Absolute Iron results in less gastric discomfort than other forms of iron.
